Kemetic yoga is a newly rediscovered Egyptian practice with roots that outlive that of the yoga we practice now. Unlike Indian yoga that was made for the elite and men, Kemetic yoga was created for all the people. Men and women of every background, focused on soft movements that highlight the divine feminine and only features a limited number of postures to explore. It’s a style of yoga that’s making its way back and I’m so excited to share more of this amazing practice with you from someone who really knows what she’s talking about.

More About Kemetic Yoga
Kemetic Yoga is a spiritual and physical practice rooted in ancient Egyptian culture, philosophy, and spirituality. Also known as Smai Tawi or Egyptian Yoga, it draws inspiration from hieroglyphic texts, temple reliefs, and ancient Kemetic teachings. This unique form of yoga focuses on the harmonization of the mind, body, and spirit through the divine feminine.
Kemetic Yoga emphasizes the cultivation of Ma’at, the ancient Egyptian concept of balance, order, and truth. Practitioners engage in slow, deliberate movements, breathing exercises, and meditation to promote physical strength, flexibility, and mental clarity. Through postures and sequences, Kemetic Yoga seeks to reconnect individuals with their divine essence and the wisdom of their ancestors.
This practice encourages a deep understanding and appreciation of the interconnectedness between the individual, nature, and the universe. It promotes self-discovery, healing, and personal transformation. By integrating movement, breath, and spirituality, Kemetic Yoga offers a holistic approach to well-being that nourishes the whole self. It is a powerful tool for self-care, self-awareness, and spiritual growth in the modern world.
About the Podcast Cover Art

This digital painting is a different take on the goddess Ma’at. With reference photos of current day Egypt and a modern day Egyptian woman mixed with pieces of the past and a style of dress that meets somewhere in the middle. Her flowing sleeves act as the wings she’s often depicted with, but represented in a totally new way here.
Ma’at is the divine feminine structure we search for. She is the guiding light for what we need most in life–Justice, balance, order.
This painting, done in many layers, was a challenge on many levels. I didn’t want to make it feel like a Cleopatra movie (often portrayed with white actresses) but I also wanted the time period to be a bit of a question. The lighting was strong and the level of detail was in-depth, but in the end all the things came together to create a image that shows off the feminine movements of Ma’at without losing her inherit power.
