Gift giving has always been hard for me. I want to leave a lasting impression on the person I’m giving to, which only comes from a gift that is filled with thought and understanding of who that person is and what they need. As a realtor, you’ve spent a lot of time with your clients. You’ve listened to them dream, broke the hard news of the house they thought was perfect only to find out they didn’t get it, and then celebrated with them when the actual perfect house was going to be their new home. To say you’ve been through a lot with your home buyers is an understatement. So how do you thank them for being a part of their story? What intentional gift from a realtor can you give them that will say, “I don’t ever want you to forget about this time we had together, and the journey it took to get here”.
Create Your Own Gift Box
When you think of home, what do you think of? I think of cozy nights cuddled up by the fire watching a movie. I think of homemade meals made in the kitchen. I think of art on the walls, pillows on the couches, and laughter filling the rooms. These are the kinds of emotions we want to get out of our home and a gift box is the perfect way to nail down these emotions in simple presents.
While you can fill a gift box with almost anything, these select items are a way to invest back in your clients and make them feel extra special. It’s gift from their favorite realtor they’ll never forget.
Cozy: Candles + Blankets
A candle in a scent that matches the season and a blanket in a color palette you know they’ll love is the perfect base to this gift box. Blankets can come in a variety of styles, materials, and colors so you can easily turn this into something custom for the home buyer’s you’re creating it for. As you work with with in buying their home make a note to ask them a few questions that will lead back to these gifts like “what’s your favorite candle scent?” and “What colors do you see in your forever home?” As you continue to create these gift boxes you’ll find a vendor of blankets and candles you’ll come to love to use over and over again. For me, I love Pearl Street Light Candles or even Trader Joe’s seasonal candles (a $5 steal!) As for blankets, Connected Goods sells my favorite Kantha blanket which is perfect for the home buyer who has a love for travel or a boho feel. If you want something more traditional, Magnolia always has a blanket in a more calming color palette that’s perfect for any couch throw.
Story Telling: Art Work
An art print, or even a small original, can be one of the most beautiful ways of enhancing a gift box and showing a home buyer how well you know them. After months of hearing about their dreams you can find a piece that fits who they are. Whether they’re a powerhouse female who needs a reminder of her own inner magic with an archetype painting, a gardener who could use some flowers on their walls while the work on their new garden outside, an animal painting for your more masculine buyer, or the go-getter who could use a slow living painting as a reminder to slow down and enjoy the little things in life. You can find a painting for any home buyer of yours in the Modern Magic shop.
Depending on the size of the sale they made with you, you might choose to go above and beyond by purchasing an original painting for them. The colors, texture, and detail, plus the value of the painting as an original, will never be matched by a print (while still beautiful and a heartfelt gift), so if you can go with an original painting, it’s always my recommendation.
Homemade: Kitchen supplies or a goodie
The last thing I like to add in a house warming gift box is something for the kitchen. It can be small like a really good set of measuring spoons, something that matches their world traveling spirit like a hand potted mug, or the extra touch of fresh baked goods from your personal kitchen or your favorite nearby baker. Everyone loves the smell of something baked in their home.

Gift From Their Favorite Realtor
These elements come together to create an intentional gift that will not only WOW your home buyer but help them to feel fully seen. Through the questions you ask during your weeks or months of working together, you’ll be able to create something so custom with this layout that they won’t be able to help but think of you as part of the family.
