Aphrodite: From the Foam of the Sea

Love, lust, beauty, pleasure, and passion all words associated with the goddess Aphrodite. But the one part that we’re missing from this perfect female archetype is warrior. Aphrodite is a warrior goddess. In this depiction of the Greek goddess of perfection I created a modern day version of the goddess. Aphrodite which translates to “from the foam of the sea” is shown here arising from the water. With her conch shell tattooed onto her left shoulder she looks off into the horizon for whatever adventures, battles, or loves come her way.

Shown in the shadows of the light, Aphrodite’s race isn’t clear here, a choice made to show that she represents all of us now matter our heritage or history. The love, passion, and fierceness that is Aphrodite, is also of all of us.
