Behind the Photoshoot: Denver Mid-Century Modern Interior Makeover
Karyn Wingard Design recently undertook an interior design project, turning an all-white canvas into a mid-century modern haven. This endeavor aimed to infuse color, texture, and art into the space, creating an environment that transcends time. And this Denver interior design photoshoot is just the tip of the iceberg to how magical this space turned out.
The Design Plan
Karyn has a very similar design philosophy to me with a focus on crafting spaces that help other to embrace a slower way of living while inspiring them. She carefully selected hues that evoke a sense of calm while channeling the vibrant spirit of mid-century aesthetics. Dark tones adorned the walls, creating a serene backdrop for the decor to really make a pop.
Textures played a pivotal role in bringing warmth to the space. Plush rugs and animal hides underfoot invited bare feet to experience luxury, while velvet covered furniture, inviting you to sink into comfort. Every element was chosen with intention, inviting this busy homeowner and his guests a place to linger in the moment.
Wall space was limited in this home meaning that art had to be chosen with care. A black and white photograph hangs above the piano to not overpower the rest of the color palette in the space. While a more Modern piece hovers over the family room couch as a way to add extra color and texture into the space. The result? A home that transcends mere decor, becoming a living testament to the beauty of intertwining timelines.
Denver Interior Design Photoshoot
For this Denver interior design photoshoot, I wanted to capture the colors, textures, and details of this space. In Interior Design Photography it’s all about getting the feel of the space and capturing the story which I think we were able to accomplish in these photos. The deep rich colors really allowed for a moodiness to these photos but the excess amount of windows didn’t make the space feel too dark. My favorite moments are always when the sun comes through the windows and works its own magic like on the piano in the photos below. You can’t recreate magic like that.
I believe that our homes are reflections of our stories and aspirations. Karyn Wingard Designs did an amazing job creating a space inspired by the timeless allure of mid-century design mixed with the function that this homeowner needs in his space. (While beauty is always the first thing I like to talk about, and think about, function always needs to come first!)
Let this be an invitation to explore the magic within your own space. Finding new colors to add to your space to make it playful or art to remind you to slow down. May your living spaces be as enchanting and evocative as the memories you create within them. And if you need a little help getting there, I highly suggest giving Karyn a call.
