I believe creativity is medicine. Not metaphorically. Actually.

I believe the things you surround yourself with either feed your soul or slowly drain it.
Most of us don’t notice it happening. We fill our walls with whatever is easy, affordable, available. We move fast and buy fast and before long our homes look fine but feel hollow. No memory inside them. No story. Nothing that says this is mine, this is me.
In Japan, when a temple needs repair they follow a strict rule, only touch what absolutely must be changed, and preserve everything else. The belief is that soul lives in what has been kept. That age and intention and human hands leave something behind that can’t be replicated. I think about this often. Because I think the same is true for our homes.
I’m Katie—mother artist and the woman behind Modern Magic.
I make art that carries something. Painted by hand, rooted in story and symbol, made with the belief that what hangs on
your walls works on you every single day; Whether you’re paying attention or not. A painting that holds your story is a daily dose of medicine you don’t have to remember to take.
Being a mother is part of this work. Motherhood taught me what it means to fight for the things that keep you whole — and how quickly those things disappear when life gets loud. I make art for the walls of women who are ready to stop settling for fine and start living inside something that actually feels like them.
Modern Magic is for the woman who wants her home to hold her.
Not just look good. Actually hold her. The art on your walls, the workshops where you remember you were born creative, the 1:1 sessions where you find your way back to yourself — it’s all the same medicine in different doses.
There’s something here for where you are right now.
