Structuring Your Business To Work For You

March 3, 2022

It comes after a handful of wins. After you’ve seen what you can do with your business. It comes after you realize you’re making enough to help support your family and live your dream of being a business owner. It comes after the initial energy that allowed you to start building, but maybe right before the “I’ve made it” moment. I’m talking about burn-out.

Every business owner will go through it.

You’ve spent so much energy building your business. Taking on every single paying client you can take. Working endless hours to make the dream a reality. And whether you’ve “made it” by your terms or are still so close to turning that corner, you can only go that speed for so long. In my opinion, 12-months is the max amount your body can really take that kind of drive. After that, you need to put some boundaries in play.

Boundaries can look like a thousand different things. This might be setting work hours, raising your prices so you don’t have to take on so many clients. It could be simplifying your approach to marketing with a strategist who’s been around the block (I might just know someone) or outsourcing some of your to-dos so you can make time for a weekly yoga class, or a walk around the park with a good friend.

I know that building a business isn’t easy. There will always be seasons in our life that are filled with chaos and overwhelm. It’s our job to use the tools we have to find as much balance in those seasons as we can (and to remember that balance will look different in all of them.)

In a recent podcast episode with Mary from Ready.Set.Glo we talk about structuring your business in a way that will work for you. To create boundaries, to find moments of stillness, and to help you overcome overwhelm and prevent burn-out. Take it from someone who knows what it feels like to be lit from both ends, adding a few strategies to encourage balance will be better for everyone in the long run.

Check out this episode and then leave a comment below telling me what new boundaries you want to add to your business.
