It’s the piece of you the world sees more than anything. You bring it with you wherever you go. It’s your first line of defense. And the first sign that something isn’t working in your body. Skin. Specifically, the delicate skin on your face, is exposed to everything in our lives. The foods we eat, the make-up we wear, the stress we feel. If you’re anything like me, then you know that you can’t have a poker face with skin that tells all your darkest secrets. But you can treat your skin to some much-needed R&R from all the pain you put it through.
I do this every evening with my nightly skin care routine.
Over the years I’ve struggled with my face. From pimples to dry spots to full-blown red rashes that took 3 doctors to tell me was my eczema spreading. Sugar, dairy, and my anxiety issues all show up on my face in one form or another. Add in the cheap chemicals I liked to play with on my face and you have a recipe for irritated skin that was no longer working for me.
Finally, this year my doctor told me about a skin care line called Eminence. She swore by one of their serums and warned me that I would pay a premium price for a product that works and lasts forever. So, like all good researchers, I Googled it and found an entire line dedicated to sensitive skin. I read pretty much all the reviews and finally decided on purchasing the $50 starter kit that gave you a sample of all the sensitive products in the line. It lasts a month and took me less than a week to decide that I love these products.
Here’s how I do it.
I start with the Eminence Calm Skin Chamomile Cleanser. It’s light like lotion and only takes a dime-size amount, a bit more if you really like the sudsy feeling. I rinse my face with water and add on the cleanser with my fingertips rubbing in circular motions around my face. With warm water I rinse off and finish with cold water to close my pores.
Then I add the Eminence Calm Skin Chamomile Moisturizer. With the plastic knife the full size jar comes with (or directly to face from the sample tube) I apply the moisturizer to my face. Start REALLY small. This stuff goes a long way and if you can get less on your fingertips it will go even further. I rub in with the same circular motion. If I’m feeling extra dry, just got out of the shower, or have dry spots I’ll add Eminence Calm Skin Arnica Booster-Serum. Again, I just apply this directly to face to avoid having my hands absorb it all.
On special occasions or when I need an extra boost of moisture, after using the cleanser I’ll apply the Eminence Calm Skin Arnica Masque and leave on while I take a bath (up to an hour). Simply rinse off when you’re done.
Here is why this stuff is magical.
It doesn’t sting, ever. I have supersonic extra sensitive skin and this stuff feels like the cold side of the pillow to my face every night. It never dries out my skin but leaves me feeling hydrated, even in dry Colorado. Most importantly, I don’t have oil on everything I own. Before switching to this line, I would use vaseline on my face to help with the dry flaky patches. It’s the only thing that worked (I still use this on my legs for my eczema). With the Eminence Organics line, I only need to apply moisturizer at night, sometimes in the morning, and never again during the day. I don’t leave oil on my sunglasses or hands that get onto everything (this was a real problem for my husband).
If you have other skin issues Eminence Organics has a huge line of products that just might be the exact thing you’re skin is looking for. You’ll pay more upfront (these products range from $30-55) but the sample kit lasted me a month and the full-size products last me about 6 months. (Really, start small with how much you use, you don’t need much!)
Show yourself some love with a skincare routine that really takes care of your skin. It’s an investment that you won’t ever regret!
