Basic Fear: Separation or loss
Basic Desire: Wholeness
Healthy: Enneagram 3 (Drive for reconciliation)
Unhealthy: Enneagram 6 (Secure peace at all cost which causes anxiety)
In every community you need a peacemaker. The person that helps keep everyone in agreement, creates the compromise and goes out of their way to make sure everyone is happy.
The Peacemaker likes to maintain neutrality at all costs, they don’t like confrontation or fighting. They have the uncanny ability to see all the sides and work with people to be open to new insights and ways of thinking. An Enneagram nine needs to be careful with complacency and living in a state of habit. They’re often the ones that can become lazy and will hold control by waiting things out.
If you’re in a relationship with a nine remember:
• They are dedicated to this relationship
• A nine will divert their feelings and can be uncommunicative. They pay attention to other people’s agendas and feelings which will often have them forgetting about their own.
• As a lover of habit, they often retreat into their habits. They need a partner that will be the active agent of change in their lives. Keep them on their toes.
• You’ll need to be careful because they will often tell you what you want to hear, make sure you work with them on finding out what they actually feel and want to say.
The Enneagram nine is the center of the Gut triad and often hide from their feelings, especially anger. You’ll find that they are the most distant from their bodies because of the emotions the suppress. As will all the types, there are pros and cons to being a nine. As long as you can stay in balance and allow your needs and wants to come out occasionally, we’ll all be better for it.
