Christmas is less than a week away and the year is almost over. Now more than ever I feel the need to get intentional as I dream up and plan out the next year.
At the end of every year, I have a ritual of answering the same 25 questions on the same Google Doc so that I can see how I’ve grown and how things have changed over the years. I started this in 2016 which means I have a pretty good line up of answers that really highlight how far I’ve come in 6 years.
The last question on my list is to come up with a theme for next year. So for 2023 I’ve chosen the theme of presence.
On the one hand, I want to be more present in the moment. I still deal with anxiety + perfectionism (living in the future) and some mild depression (living in the past) and I know that if I could be more present my overall wellbeing would improve.
On the other hand, I want to grow my audience and continue to build a business around art and creating calm homes, which means having a presence that will get me seen. All my business goals are around audience growth and less about financial growth for this year. That’s putting my theme front and center and embracing the feeling of discomfort as I let go of my hold on money–a major trigger for me.
This year, is showing up and being present, I’m going all in for my newsletter community. Every month I’ll be sharing behind the scenes videos of my art process, answering your questions about slow living, creating art, and running an intentional creative business. It’s a weekly place to get grounded, discover new ideas, and help you tune into your own creativity (even if you don’t think you have any of that magic!)
