Eczema Honey

September 16, 2018
Scratch. Itch. Repeat. This has been my life ever since I was a child. I remember the years where I bit my nails and had to use the cap of a pen to scratch my eczema because it itched that bad. There has never been a time in my life where I could go for an extended period without itching, and in the last year, it’s only gotten worst.

A month before my wedding day, back in June, I started looking for something new. I’d been using Cortisone cream since I was diagnosed with eczema and it worked for me, but it wasn’t something I wanted to keep applying for the long-term (longer than the 15 years I’d been using it). I’d started reading up about the side effects of this steroid cream and the fact that the longer you use it, the more you need it. Other side effects included thinning of the skin, lightening of the skin, noticeable aging of the skin especially when used on the face, and while not common can also suppress the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis which can lead to other skin issues and low cortisol levels.

As I searched for natural remedies, diet changes, and anything I could find as to why this was happening and why it was getting worst I came across Eczema Honey, the holy grail of topical creams for your eczema. This was my Indiana Jones moment where everything was falling into place, and history was about to be made.

An all-natural cream made from Beeswax, pure honey, almond oil (although there is also a nut-free option) and sunflower oil; this cream was made for eczema. Eczema Honey is so natural that it has to be kept in the fridge or freezer to keep it from molding. That’s right; it’s so natural that even mold wants a piece of it. I like to keep it in the freezer so that it’s nice and cold when putting it on my inflamed skin, especially on my face.

Eczema Honey is a miracle cream, while on the more expensive side, it’s worth every penny. Not much is needed to apply on broken out skin patches and can be used for more than just eczema. I find it works on my rosacea but also use it when my jaw starts to breakout around my period. It can also help heal psoriasis, dermatitis, KP, sunburn, shave burn, rash, boils, inflamed, dry or itchy skin or as a lip balm for dry lips. Put on a thin layer to let your skin soak it up and close off your skin to bacteria or lay it on thick and let it soak for 20 minutes and then wash it off.

While Eczema Honey won’t get rid of the problem, it helps relieve the pain. I’m still playing with my diet to see what triggers my eczema and rosacea (right now gluten isn’t looking so hot) but when I do get a flare-up, I know that I have a secret frozen recipe that will relieve the pain and start healing the skin. And when it’s a big red rash on your face, you want to know that you have backup!
