We’ve all felt the power of having too many choices.
I remember coming back after living abroad for a short time staring at all the cereals at the grocery store, completely frozen with what choice to make. For months I had pretty much 1 option of any type of food and now, I had hundreds, and I had no idea what to do.
This feeling doesn’t just appear after traveling, it’s a human condition. We like choices, but too many choices leave us feeling overwhelmed and unsure of what to do. That’s why when you’re getting clear in your brand, you also need to clearly state what your call to action is.
In any given piece of content, there should be one (read that again…one!) call to action.
Do you want them to read your blog? Buy a product? Subscribe? Use a promo code? Engage? Whatever action you want your audience to take, you need to spell it out for them clearly.
It doesn’t matter the content–an ad, social post, blog post, or newsletter. It all works the same way. There should be one singular action to take. It makes it easier to gauge whether this content was successful, and it keeps to end goal front of mind for your audience. They know exactly what to do from here and only have to decide between “yes, I’ll do that” or “no, not today.”
Keep things simple. Make it clear. That’s the secret to marketing that works but more importantly, marketing that adds value. This is what we’re all trying to do here–add value.
Sincerely,
