In recent years I’ve become a plant lady. I love having potted plants throughout my home to make me feel closer to nature as well as clean our air. But it wasn’t always this way. For the longest time, my entire family was known for having black thumbs. Any plant we bought, we killed. My parent’s garden is made of fake plants for the combined reason of elk that eat everything, a dry climate, and their inability to keep anything alive anyway. So I’ve come to find other ways to bring nature into their home–Through artwork.
A simple painting of flowers or a landscape takes us back to memories and experiences in nature. They remind us of a simpler time and maybe, if we’re lucky, to slow down for just a minute.
The variety of colors and textures that come with floral paintings add so much to a room and keep you coming back to examine it some more. I personally love painting flowers. Their organic shapes create a rhythm that you don’t get anywhere else but their playful colors make it fun to mix and match. No matter what your color scheme is, you can almost always find a floral painting that works with your decor and inspires those same emotions we get when we’re in nature.
If you’re like my family and just can keep the real things alive (or even if you can) a floral painting on your walls is always a great way to bring a little nature into your home.
